I wanted to write and let you know how enjoyable your book is. I love it! I started reading it that same day and right away figured I’d not be able to put it down. But I made myself do so because I wanted to make it last. So I decided to read one day per day (except a couple of days ago when I got caught up in it and didn’t realize I’d kept going! 🙂 It is different than I’d thought it would be. I was really looking forward to seeing all the art work but the story is wonderful too. It’s more personal than I expected. I was expecting a chronicle and it’s actually more like a memoir.So, well done!~Wakar
@@@@@@Last Thursday, we went to visit our daughter in Valley Springs–a three hour drive one way. My husband did all the driving, and I took the opportunity to read your book. Richard, I could not put it down. I couldn’t wait to read about each days activities and if you were able to do your drawing/paintings.
You are so honest in your book about frustrations with the weather, the amount of time taken to get from one place to another and about how you felt about your work. It made me sympathize and relate–especially in doing one’s art in public. You placed the reader by your side in viewing all the historical architecture and provided such valuable historical facts. It makes me want to visit these places.
The book was amazing, and I can’t wait for you to write another.

Richard Sheppard has created not only an art related book on how to travel and artistically document what one sees, but also a travel guide of Greece. His “artist on the road” is a wonderful combination of the two and an insightful read. I felt like a fly on the ceiling as he and his father enjoyed their time together. I wish I had had the opportunity to have experienced a similar journey with my father. Congratulations, Richard, on a job well done, to say the least. Your fellow artists and travelers in general, look forward to future accounts of you being “on the road.”
